Acer Aspire One AOD257 Netbook Review
The Acer Aspire One AOD257 10.1-inch netbook with a new design and the Intel Atom N570 processor is now on sale in the USA.
The netbook has a glossy finish with “water ripples” pattern on the back, the same as on the AMD-powered Aspire One 522 and 722 series. The AOD257 is currently available in black (AOD257-13685), white (AOD257-13876) and red (AOD257-13836) colors. It will be also offered in blue color later.
Internally, the mini laptop sports 1GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive, besides the 1.66GHz dual-core Atom N570 with the GMA 3150 integrated graphics. The available 2.65-pound models have a 3-cell battery, which powers the system up to 4 hours on a single charge.
Operating system is Windows 7 Starter and other features include a 1024 x 600 LED backlight screen, 0.3 webcam, dual speakers, three USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi, VGA out, and a multi-card reader.
Acer’s netbook is priced at $270 (Amazon, Newegg). It’s significantly cheaper than the Asus Eee PC 1015PX with the same internals and prices from $320 – $350, but the downside is that the former has more than 50% lower capacity battery. However, we can expect that 6-cell AOD257 models will also hit the US market. {latoping.com}
